Logging into SciFinder

https://origin-scifinder.cas.org/registration/index.html?corpKey=E5333F55-86F3

It can be a challenge when you first try to access the chemistry database SciFinder Scholar. This database requires users to set up an account before they can access the database. Here area some tips to make this less painful for WMU students, faculty, and staff:
  • Register for an account from SciFinder's User Registration page. You must register before SciFinder will allow you to log in.
  • You must use your WMU email address (xxxxx@wmich.edu) when registering. Otherwise SciFinder won't recognize that you are part of the WMU subscription to SciFinder and won't allow you access to the database.
  • Pay attention to the requirements for user names and passwords. They can be a little tricky.
  • Once you have registered, look for an email from SciFinder in you WMU email account -- you must click on a link in this email to activate your account. The email usually comes within five minutes of registering, although it can sometimes take longer.
If you still have problems accessing SciFinder even after following these tips, let me know and we can troubleshoot.  Good luck!

OpenGeoSci - New geosciences database

Detail of OpenGeoSci search screen

Just today I've added a link to OpenGeoSci to the Geosciences Subject Guide. This new article database allows users to perform an article search and then filter the results by an geographical area filter; by clicking on a map interface; or by other, more standard article database limits. This is a powerful and innovative way to find geology research. Give it a try!
